Use drives the design.

Loading areas, parking connections, walks and curb lines serve different traffic conditions. The project documents determine thickness, reinforcing, joints, elevations and other requirements for each area.

Drainage and tie-ins matter.

Site concrete meets asphalt, buildings, landscape zones, inlets and other surfaces. Coordinating grades and interfaces helps the finished work function as part of the site rather than as a disconnected slab of pavement.

Existing sites may need phasing.

When pavement or walks are replaced at an operating commercial property, the sequence can affect deliveries, parking and pedestrian routes. The project team should identify those constraints before work begins.

Curb and sidewalk can be bundled into the same conversation.
